"SIERRA NEVADA" is a remarkable work of color, light, mood, and atmosphere painted by artist, Connie Tom. It is painted in oils and is on stretched canvas. This beautiful luministic work pictures a view of the Sierra Nevada mountains with the sun overhead and shining down through the clouds upon the mountains, trees, ground and water. The center of interest is the upper center of the sky where the most light is concentrated. Although the sun is out of view, you are aware of it's presence because of the rays streaming down through the clouds and the highlights on everything facing toward it. This is a study done of the original "Among the Sierra Nevada, California" by Albert Bierstadt. This inspirational painting takes our attention away from our lives today and brings us to a place of sanctuary, where there is calmness, peace and serenity, and a awesome appreciaton for the beauty of nature inviting the viewer into this luminous scene itself.
